Preschoolers Get a Head Start with Martial Arts

The three to five year old range is an important part of a child's life. This is the range when they begin to learn social interactions, manners, and whats right and wrong. This age range can also be difficult for parents since their child can also develop a temper and/or attitude. At Traverse City's Seung-Ni Martial Arts Academy a class appropriately titled Little Ninjas exists solely for kids of this age group.

Sons and daughters in Little Ninjas will spend every class warming up with running and simple stretches. This is followed by a variety of drills and activities all designed to be fun and engaging while also giving the students important excersise. Children in the class also get to work with each other as well as the instructors to build teamwork. Some drills will also have the students briefly go to their parents for a well deserved hug and a break from the action. During a Ninja class parents can expect their child to move a lot and have fun doing so!

An important part of our Little Ninja program is teaching the young students core values and manners. The Black Belt teachers will regularly sit down with the students and have a talk about something important such as listening to mom and dad, being quiet or loud when appropriate, and using words instead of throwwing temper tantrums. Sometimes a parent may even come to us and explain their child has been behaving a certain way so the instructors can cover it in class. At Seung-Ni the instructors do their best to ensure that each student has fun but also learns that there must be times to be serious.

If you or someone you know has a 3-5 year old child that is interested in martial arts please call Seung-Ni Traverse City at (231) 932-4300 or visit us at seungnitc.com
