The Power of Self Defense for Women

The capability to defend oneself and one's loved ones has and always will be invabluable. For women this is even more important as they are predominantly the targets of assault not only in the USA but around the world. Even if you never come under attack the peace of mind gained from knowing how to stay safe is just as great. Located in Northern Michigan, Seung-Ni Martial Arts Academy instructors know this and give women the tools to protect themselves and their loved ones.

While Traverse City is relatively safe it is not without isolated incidents; in 2012 a woman was attacked while walking the TART trail. It was, in fact, this event that sparked this woman to gather others and request a self defense class. The Seung-ni black belt teachers obliged and made up a special curriculum covering striking from standing arts such as Taekwondo and Muay Thai, standing grab breaks from Hapkido and Judo, and ground defense from Brazilian Jui-Jitsu. With the techniques from each of these styles a Traverse City female would be well equipped to defend against a multitude of attacks. As such, many of these are worked into our everyday adult and teen martial arts classes.

As stated earlier, Traverse City is a pretty safe place. However, knowing that you could stand your round against any sort of offender provides great peace of mind. Some people carry a can of pepper spray because it helps them feel safe, those that train hard and learn the right techniques feel the same way.
